Understanding unstaking

When you unstake $MONSTRO, a penalty may apply depending on how long your tokens have been staked.

Your current penalty:

  • Is shown directly on the staking page
  • Decays continuously over time
  • Applies only to the tokens you unstake, not your entire stake

Any pending rewards are automatically claimed without penalty when you unstake.

Step 1: Open the unstake modal

From the Stake page, click Unstake in the My Stake section.

The unstake modal will display:

  • Your available unstake amount
  • A real-time penalty breakdown
  • The exact amount you will receive

Step 2: Review the penalty breakdown

As you enter the amount to unstake, the penalty breakdown updates automatically.

You will see:

  • Unlock Amount – the amount you chose to unstake
  • Penalty – the portion deducted based on your current penalty rate
  • You’ll Receive – the final amount sent to your wallet

This ensures there are no surprises before confirming.

Step 3: Confirm unstaking

Click Confirm Unstake and approve the transaction in your wallet. A small amount of ETH on Base is required for gas.

Once confirmed, the unstaked tokens are sent to your wallet immediately.

How penalties are used

Any unstaking penalty is distributed as follows:

  • 50% is permanently burned, reducing total supply
  • 25% is used to refill emissions, supporting long-term rewards
  • 25% goes to the DAO treasury, strengthening community governance

This ensures penalties benefit the ecosystem rather than a single party.

Important notes

  • You can partially or fully unstake at any time
  • Penalties decay continuously the longer you remain staked
  • Pending rewards are never penalized
  • Unstaking affects only the amount you choose to withdraw

Closing note

Unstaking is always available, with clear and transparent outcomes shown before you confirm. For the best results, many users choose to wait until penalties have significantly decayed.
