Monstro DAO decisions are made by its verified members, weighted by how much $MONSTRO they have committed: staked $MONSTRO plus xMONSTRO. Members vote on proposals at monstrodefi.com/dao/vote, and the Council carries out the proposals that pass.

Who can vote

Any verified DAO member whose stake still meets their membership threshold at the moment they vote. See Joining the DAO for how verification and thresholds work.

Eligibility is checked live when you sign your vote, so a member whose stake has dropped below their threshold cannot vote, even if they still hold the Discord role. The DAO's own stake never votes.

Voting power

Voting power is based on your committed $MONSTRO: your staked $MONSTRO plus your xMONSTRO, counted at what it redeems for (the $MONSTRO actually backing it). Diminishing returns apply above each tier so that a few large wallets cannot outweigh everyone else:

Committed $MONSTROEach token counts as
Up to 300,0001.00
300,000 to 1,500,0000.75
1,500,000 to 3,000,0000.50
Above 3,000,0000.25

Some examples:

CommittedVoting power
150,000150,000
500,000450,000
1,000,000825,000
5,000,0002,450,000

Your voting power is measured at the moment voting opens. Staking, unstaking, minting or moving tokens after that does not change it, and the same tokens cannot be counted twice by moving them to another wallet mid-vote.

Gaming the vote is also expensive. Staked $MONSTRO carries early withdrawal penalties, and minting xMONSTRO burns 75% of its cost, so buying in just to vote and then leaving loses most of the money.

MIP-1 ran under the original rule: live staked $MONSTRO only, read when each vote was signed. The rules above apply from MIP-2 onward.

Proposals

Each proposal has a title, a full description, a voting window (usually 7 days) and three choices: For, Against and Abstain.

Any verified DAO member can submit a proposal by opening a Discord ticket. The Council checks it, members discuss it in Discord, then it goes to a vote. See Submitting a Proposal for the steps and the template.

Quorum

A proposal can set a quorum: the minimum turnout needed for the result to count. A quorum has two parts, and both must be met:

  • A minimum number of voters
  • A minimum amount of voting power, set as a share of the total voting power of all eligible members

The voting power minimum is fixed when voting opens, so members who verify during the vote do not move the target. For, Against and Abstain all count toward quorum.

A proposal passes when quorum is met and For has more voting power than Against. Abstain counts toward quorum but toward neither side.

Transparency

  • Votes are public by wallet. The vote list shows each wallet, its choice and its voting power. Discord names are never shown.
  • Every vote is signed. Anyone can download every signed vote from the proposal page and check the count independently.
  • Signing is free. A vote is a signed message, not a transaction. It costs no gas and cannot move any funds.

Carrying out results

The Council executes passed proposals through the DAO multisigs within 14 days and posts every transaction publicly. It may refuse only if carrying out a proposal turns out to be unsafe or impossible, and must explain why publicly.

Discussion

Proposals are discussed in the Monstro Discord:

  • #proposals: official announcement and record of each proposal that goes to a vote
  • #governance-discussion: one thread per proposal, opened by the Council, where members discuss it
